South Asia

In 1981, Partner 135 began taking the gospel to Southern Asia. Our mission teams have seen more than 200,000 professions of faith and have assisted in the planting of hundreds of churches.

Partner 135 mobilizes mission teams of volunteers each year to conduct medical, dental and optometry clinics, kids’ Bible clubs, direct evangelism in tribal villages, and theological education. These activities serve as catalysts and venues for evangelism, disciple-making, and equipping indigenous leadership.

South Asia

History of Uganda

South Asia is located inside the 10/40 Window, often called "The Resistant Belt", and has a high population who are devoutly committed to their Muslim, Hindu, and Buddhist beliefs. South Asia is the heart of Hinduism, with its 33 millions gods, with Southeast Asia being primarily Buddhist. There is a remarkable overlap between the poorest countries of the world and those that are least evangelized, and although South Asia doesn't have the poorest countries, it has a large share of the world's poor residing in the region.

Persecution of Christians is on the rise throughout South Asia, as radical Hindus, Muslims, and Buddhists seek to "purify" their countries of religious minorities. Islamic extremism has significantly increased during the last 10 to 15 years due in large part to Islamic education centers where 40 million children are taught to persecute religious minorities like Christians. This persecution of Christians is making ministry increasingly difficult. Higher levels of persecution against Christians have not deterred indigenous missionaries from sharing the gospel; however they need your support to help them continue making disciples for Christ.

Despite this persecution, Christianity is rapidly growing in this region. Today in India, between 15,000 and 20,000 people are baptized every day. Northern India still contains the world's largest number of unreached people groups, however. India's Christian leaders are beginning to collaborate on how to reach these groups.

Countries In South Asia

As we carry out God's mission, sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the people in South Asia - your support, whether it be through financial contributions or prayer, will play a vital role in bringing hope, healing, and transformation to those in need. Together, we can make an eternal impact, spreading the message of love and salvation to all corners of South Asia.

Pray for South Asia

  • Pray for wisdom and resources for indigenous missionaries working to share the gospel, establish new churches, and disciple new believers in the truth of Scripture.

  • Pray for protection over local believers; for boldness and courage to live out their faith in the midst of possible persecution.
